Who Let the Cat Out of the Bag?

This post is dedicated to my late tabby dog/cat, Tiggy, the love of my life. Also to Diesel, his Angora sister who is a precious princess and who stares at me in bed and freaks me out. Lots of love.

When I play with my cat, how do I know that she is not passing time with me rather than I with her? – Montaigne

Can’t miss this museum. Kuching meaning cat in Malay. Free museum paying homage to cats. 15 minutes of my life I’ll never get back but memories that will last forever!

Cats in modern art. Paintings of cats in leather, cats dressed as Elvis, dancing cats, dining cats, and rock and roll band cats. Cats in medieval art. A mock cat cemetery. Hello Kitty exhibit. Cat stacking dolls, cat china dolls. Cats made out of seashells. Japanese cat exhibit (note – special collection) Chinese cat exhibit, Egyptian cat exhibit. Cat myths. Influence of cats on the world. Explanation of cat sayings, nine lives, their affection, life cycle and special beliefs about cats.

My favourite? A weathered poster of the movie Aliens starring Sigourney Weaver. Absolutely nothing to do with cats until you cut and paste a photo of her holding her cat and place it in the bottom right hand corner.

Question: What would you have most liked to have seen in a cat museum?

Do you have any fun cat anecdotes? My late cat Tiggy would come to bed with me, nudge up my arm, lie down in the crook of my body and we’d spoon. Love and miss him each and every day.

  1. Ahhhhh!!!! But Julie, there WAS a cat in Aliens! His name was Jones.

I remember a cat hissing at an alien, so I did a search and found this trivia:

The first day that she shot a scene involving Jones the cat, Sigourney Weaver’s skin started reacting badly. Horrified, the young actress immediately thought that she might be allergic to cats, and that it would be easier for the production to recast her instead of trying to find 4 more identical cats. As it transpired, Weaver was reacting to glycerin sprayed on her skin to make her look hot and sweaty.

To get Jones the cat react fearfully to an Alien, a German Shepherd was placed in front of him with a screen between the two, so the cat wouldn’t see it at first, and came over. The screen was then suddenly removed to make Jones stop, and start hissing.
