Thank you to Michael Martchenko (Illustrator to Robert Munsch) – Travelling Munschkin Masthead Illustration

I can’t begin to convey my excitement and thanks to my father’s illustrator, Michael Martchenko. Many of you are likely quite familiar with his work as he has illustrated more than 80% of my father’s (Robert Munsch) sixty (60) books; they make quite the pair.

When I began planning this blog I dreamed that I might get Michael to indulge my fantasies of a custom masthead illustration. The process was painless and he created exactly what I had in mind, it could not have come out better.

I am truly blessed and will forever be in his gratitude. Thank you Michael.

On another note..I’m considering which background colour should be used. What are your thoughts on the current teal colour I’m using?

  2. On my monitor the masthead is a different shade of teal on the background of the blog than it is on the attached illustration sample in this blog. I prefer the one already set in the background, looks great. Fantastic work by Mr Martchenko.

    • Yes, the colour on the photo was changed to match the background colour. 🙂

  3. Hey! That is so cool Michael Martchenko illustrated your masthead! When your site first loaded I thought, “I wonder who illustrated that…” Now I know. It’s perfect!

  4. Yes I like the blue. I’ve been trained in colour ‘phsycology’ as was did many food pack designs. The blue you chose, warm yellows, purples (like Barney) and brown are happy, sharing good feel colours.

On another note – I was trying to find email contact details for Michael Martchenko as I’d like to ask if I can commission him to do a drawing? Would you be willing to share his preferred method of contact?

Many thanks and good luck with your blog! I’m sure it will be awesome 🙂

    • Hi Lynne,

Thanks! My apologies for not getting back to you sooner. Unfortunately Michael doesn’t do commissioned pieces, he did this as a gift to me.

      Best. Julie
